Kershaw and Puig
Clayton Kershaw (7-5) pitched a shutout and Yasiel Puig (his 8th) homered in last nights 8-0 win over the Colorado Rockies. Kershaw's shutout was noteworthy because historically, he has not really pitched that well in Colorado. The Dodgers have gotten to the halfway point of the season winning 9 of 10, getting their key players back and running, contributions from rookies (Stephen Fife and Yasiel Puig), and some veterans are also getting hot (Adrian Gonzalez- 11 homeruns and 50 RBI's). With the win last night, the Dodgers climbed out of last place in the National League West for the first time in two months and are beating down the door to first. As Manager Don Mattingly pointed out, there are still a lot of games left but they are playing solid baseball right now, getting good starting pitching and some timely hits.
