A.J. Ellis

I believe I can hear the "MVP" chants for A.J. Ellis all the way in North Carolina. A three-run walk-off homerun against the Houston Astros last night. He's batting over .300, and OBP of over .400, and third on the team in RBI's with 23. What else can he do? I watched the Phillies-Cardinals broadcast yesterday afternoon and announcers Tim McCarver and the young Buck were extolling the virtues of Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz and what a great season he is having. He is having a great season but the difference is that A.J. Ellis is having a great season on a team with the best record in baseball. The Dodgers have also had to call up about half of the roster of the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes. A.J. Ellis is one of those players that you really want to see succeed. He works hard, does his job quietly, and he is a team player. He is a classic late bloomer as a player and did not become a starter until this year and it is great to see his hard work pay off with results.
