I have to admit that I have never been a big Ted Lilly fan. I always thought he was just a middle of the road pitcher who aspired to be a .500 pitcher. Last years 12-14 record with a 3.97 ERA was a case in point. He did have a great second half last season which gave me hope for this season. His first couple of starts in Spring Training, starting the season on the Disabled List, and getting knocked around in a couple of rehab starts quickly dashed those hopes.
I have renewed hope again after a solid start last night against the San Diego Padres. 7 IP, 1 run and no earned runs, in a 6-1 Dodgers win. Matt Kemp hit two two-run homeruns in the first two innings to lead the Dodgers offense. You have to love those chants of "MVP! MVP!" as he rounds the bases.
The Dodgers are 8-1 on the season and that rolls right off the tongue. Its too bad that they can't play the Padres about 50 times a season.
